Do you know how to be healthy?
Are you fully aware of the needs of your body and mind and are you meeting those needs?
Most of us are not; and not because we don't care about being healthy and our own well-being.
For the majority of us, we honestly don't know how to be healthy or we aren't making time for a healthy lifestyle in the midst of our busy lives.
Here you will find some simple steps you can take towards being healthy, and you can use them all starting right now!
Sleep is as necessary as eating.
There are twenty four hours in a day, and seven to eight of those hours should be dedicated to resting up.
Sleep is not negotiable.
It benefits you by revitalizing your mind and body for the day ahead and allowing them to relax after the day passed.
Don't allow work and leisure activities to take you away from your sleep.
If you are feeling tired throughout the day, turn off your cellular phone and take a 30 minute power nap to recharge.
Speaking of sleep, if you are feeling tired it could also be a result of not drinking enough water each day.
Water makes up a large part of your body weight and ensures that bodily functions operate correctly.
It's also a natural energy booster. I call it my brain food.
If you aren't drinking enough water you could become fatigue and/or suffer from dehydration.
So, make the healthy decision and gulp down eight eight ounce glasses a day of water (flavored or mixed with 100% fruit juice is a great alternative).
Supplemental vitamins are a great way to ensure that your body is getting the nutrients it needs to keep you going even when you are on the go.
It's difficult to eat a variety of the right foods each day, just don't substitute these supplements for actual healthy foods.
Eating right doesn't mean placing yourself on a strict diet.
There are a few general rules to healthy eating, such as making sure to eat three meals a day and foods from each food group.
You know what is and isn't good for you and you can avoid those foods or limit your intake.
However, consult your physician and a trained nutritionist to develop a healthy eating plan that will best work for you.
Knowing your ideal body weight can assist you in meeting the weight at which you would be most healthy.
Being a bit above or under your ideal body weight isn't something to panic about, but having an idea of where you are on the charts will help you reassess your eating and exercise habits if necessary.
There are many virtual ideal body weight calculators that can be found online and used for free; otherwise, consult your physician.
You don't have to over exert yourself with a rigorous exercise routine.
Yet, exercise is an essential part of learning how to be healthy.
There is an endless list of benefits and you can slowly add exercise into your day.
Take a walk or jog with a friend, sign up for a membership at your local gym and have a personal trainer give you tips as to what you should focus on and how to get started.
Stay current on your healthcare checkups.
Don't skip out on your annual physicals, no matter how well you are feeling.
If you are sexually actively, be sure to get tested for STDs on a regular basis.
Stress can lead to an array of health issues.
Manage your stress by chatting with a friend, adopting a hobby, or talking to a therapist if necessary.
Learning how to be healthy is vital to leading a healthy and happy life, and you can put these simple steps into practice every day of your life.
I'll health, of body or of mind, is defeat.
Health alone is victory.
Let all men, if they can manage it, contrive to be healthy!
