Binge Eating Help

Many sufferers of eating disorders are in need of binge eating help.

Binge eating is the most common form of eating disorder; highly because of the number of other eating disorders that are associated with it and in part because it also affects a wide range of men, unlike Bulimia and Anorexia.

Binge eating shares many similarities with Compulsive eating disorder and stress eating; however, some of its characteristics set it apart.

The differentiating factor between these eating disorders and Binge eating is the frequency of overeating, reasons for overeating, and allotted time overeating.

Binge eaters eat large quantities of food in short periods of time while experiencing a sense of powerlessness that causes them to believe they cannot stop eating in that moment.


Compulsive eaters tend to eat large amounts at each meal or throughout the day, not all at once.

Binge eaters typically do not self induce vomiting afterwards, as with Bulimia.

They are usually overweight as a result of their eating, unlike anorexics.

The same as all eating disorders, Binge eating does result because of depression and stress and those symptoms worsen the further into the eating disorder the binge eater gets.

A vicious cycle begins, involving eating and feeling guilt and disgust with oneself and then more eating to block out the bad feelings.

These signs are some of the most common found in those in need of Binge eating help, but don't fool yourself into thinking that you aren't that bad or at risk of becoming a binge eater if you only related to a few of the signs and not all. Signs Of Addiction

Seeking help with your eating is vital to your health.

Binge eating started first with me, as young as 10, I would gorge myself, and then I learnt by purging I could get rid of alot of food and start again with my eating, I share the journey with you in by book Overcoming Life's Challenges and how I overcame my eating addiction.

Damages of Not Receiving Binge Eating Help

If ignored, those in need of Binge eating help can suffer some of the eating disorder's more dangerous damages:


  • Increased depression, stress, guilt, anger, sadness and anxiety can occur as the bingeing increases.
  • High blood pressure and/or Cholesterol
  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease and risk of Heart attacks
  • Obesity
  • Death
  • Gall bladder disease
  • Various forms of cancer
  • Bone and joint problems
  • Not getting enough vitamins and other nutrients, as usually the types of food that are eaten during a binge is high in fat and and sugar and low in important nutrients. Which of course can lead to all sorts of other health difficulties.

Getting Binge Eating Help

If you need help with Binge eating, here are a few tips to help you get on your way:

  • Join an online support group and locate your local Over eaters Anonymous
  • Ask your loved ones for their support and understanding
  • Talk to a loved one about your stresses instead of turning to food
  • Don't attempt to diet, instead seek help from your physician and a trained nutritionist to come up with the right eating plans, health care, therapy and possibly treatment facilities for you.
  • Eat regularly and eat small meals through out the day, this way you are giving your body enough nutrients throughout the day.
  • Don't skip meals, by skipping meals you tend to get hungry and this is when you binge.
  • Set up a plan and when you feel like bingeing, have a distraction set up for when happens, maybe just going for a walk will take your mind off it plus it will make you feel better.
  • Do a little bit of exercise each day, it can just be a walk.

Do keep in mind that a Binge eating disorder, like a food addiction, is difficult to overcome because the object of your addiction is unavoidable.

Food is a necessary part of everyday life.

It is up to you to make your relationship with it a healthy one.

Don't be too hard on yourself, as reasons for bingeing are complicated so it just might be hard to manage on your own, so don't be too hard on yourself if you don't reach your immediate goal.
