The differentiating factor between these eating disorders and Binge eating is the frequency of overeating, reasons for overeating, and allotted time overeating.
Binge eaters eat large quantities of food in short periods of time while experiencing a sense of powerlessness that causes them to believe they cannot stop eating in that moment.
Compulsive eaters tend to eat large amounts at each meal or throughout the day, not all at once.
Binge eaters typically do not self induce vomiting afterwards, as with Bulimia.
They are usually overweight as a result of their eating, unlike anorexics.
The same as all eating disorders, Binge eating does result because of depression and stress and those symptoms worsen the further into the eating disorder the binge eater gets.
A vicious cycle begins, involving eating and feeling guilt and disgust with oneself and then more eating to block out the bad feelings.

Do keep in mind that a Binge eating disorder, like a food addiction, is difficult to overcome because the object of your addiction is unavoidable.
Food is a necessary part of everyday life.
It is up to you to make your relationship with it a healthy one.
Don't be too hard on yourself, as reasons for bingeing are complicated so it just might be hard to manage on your own, so don't be too hard on yourself if you don't reach your immediate goal.
